Ice Bound

Hi friends and Family! I hope you're having sunshine and fall colors in your part of the world! Well the journey to the land of Ice is underway! Aaron starts his orientation tomorrow in Denver and I'll be able to stay with him there for a few days before he flies out and I hang with my fam for an additional week and a half. We're excited, nervous, and feeling like this really isn't happening..... so strange to tell people that you're spending your winter (in the US) in Antarctica (even though it's summer there now). An island of research buildings and dorm rooms are waiting for us in a sea of snow and ice. Here we go!

Let The Fun Begin!

After months of filling out paperwork, making phone calls, and completing interviews, the time has come for our last thing to check off before we can pack our bags and head to the Ice - today, I'll be getting my wisdom teeth yanked out of my head. Apparently no one in Antarctica is allowed to have their wisdom teeth due to a lack of dental professionals and an exorbitant cost to evacuate a worker if their teeth suddenly go haywire. This is a continent without wisdom teeth that we're headed to...and soon I'll be a part of the club. Our last great hurdle on the road to the land of ice and snow. Frozen peas and tube sock wrapped around my head - here I come!
